Tina is primarily a painter whose work frequently incorporates storefronts, memories (old and new), as well as consumer products. They delve into the memories and nostalgia of consumption based on location. Such as the perfume counter at Boscov's, or their favorite place to get Chinese.
The average person probably doesn't find a strip mall attractive, or even think twice about the building. However, Tina sees these places and appreciates the behind the scenes. Such as the team it would've taken to build it, or the crew to design such a structure. They capture storefronts in a romantic, colorful expression, bringing attention to what people take for granted. Consumerism is changing very fast and some of these businesses and the buildings they inhabit might not exist in a short while. Thinking in that direction, Tina's work is documentation for things that people might look past documenting.
Stemming from nostalgia, anemoia is something they have been chasing in their work more recently. Coined by author John Koenig, this is a term for feeling nostalgic but for a time or place never experienced. For Tina, this is 80s/90s consumerism seeping into their work, due to this feeling of anemoia.
Their artistic journey has been enriched by diverse experiences. One of which includes participating in Second State Press’s FOB Holder program in Philadelphia, where they spent a few months exploring printmaking. They also held positions as Painting Studio Technician and Eckert Art Gallery Assistant while attending Millersville University. Tina has exhibited their work in various galleries across Lancaster city. As well as Wisconsin, Missouri, and online platforms. The works exhibited have been a mix between painting and ceramic sculpture. Their talent has been recognized with awards such as the Gallerium's Editor's Pick Prize.
